Snakeskin-patterned jumpsuit & scarf

The fabric for this jumpsuit was made exclusively for Miss Deb. Designer Maurice Mihotich recalls: "We heard that animal print was going to be a big new trend in print but couldn’t get prints we wanted. At the time the only way to import fabric from overseas was to have a license and they were hard to obtain for new companies. The only access to fabric from abroad was though wholesalers and their stock wasn’t current. We approached a mill in New Zealand (possibly Levana) to get fabric designed and printed for us. Working with their in-house designers they put together ideas for a photographic snake print and we chose one which was then screenprinted onto a lightweight polyester knit. We used the print for jumpsuits as well as pants and tunic tops as in the early 1970s pants were more on trend than skirts."
