Melanie Child only uses pre-loved, second-hand garments (except for some trims) as the raw materials for her designs. She deconstructs these items to create innovative and witty fashion garments, where existing shapes are given new roles.

Melanie is currently focused on limited edition runs for commercial stockists, also creating one-off bespoke designs.

She graduated with her Otago Polytechnic fashion design degree in 2009 and was selected for the iD International Emerging Designer Awards in 2010.
