Thai silk ensemble

Helen and her husband owned J and J Auld outfitters in New Plymouth, who were stockists of El Jay and other quality labels. They had large and beautifully appointed fitting rooms and two women in permanent employ who did all the necessary fitting and alterations to make sure that the garment was perfect for the client. This ensemble was worn by Helen Auld to her daughter Janet’s wedding. She accessorised it with a hat, bag and shoes in a milky coffee colour.nRead more about Gus Fisher and the El Jay label in the New Zealand Fashion Museum publication Looking Terrific: The story of El Jay.
