Kestos style brassiere
Kestos was a British lingerie label founded by Polish designer Rosaline Kiln. In the late 1920s, she was experimenting with new forms of brassiere. The resulting strappy brassiere was the first use of two triangle cups. The design became so popular that for many years women did not buy a brassiere, they bought 'a Kestos'.
This Berlei version replicates the Kestos wraparound narrow straps. The additional girdle hook would have added extra practicality - adjustable straps.
This photo was taken in Wellington by Gordon Burt. Berlei was one of his many commercial clients.
