Hand-woven wool dress & bag

In 1958 Margaret Dulcie Hill bought Ross Drapery, which was located at 203 North Road, Dunedin. She specialised in wedding gowns, but Margaret still found time to sew her family's clothes, including her husband's suits, sports jackets and work shirts. In the 1960s she took up spinning, dyeing and weaving wool. In 1974, with the help of a friend, she spun, dyed and wove this purple dress to wear to her daughter's wedding. She teamed it with a grey fox fur cape.
