This photoshoot by Clifton Firth was commissioned by Dormer Beck Advertising on behalf of Classic Gowns. Classic Manufacturing was established in the 1920s, becoming one of the largest New Zealand garment manufacturers in the second half of the 20th century. Classic's "stylish, dependable and affordable clothing" was sold in department stores throughout New Zealand (The Dress Circle by Lucy Hammonds, Douglas Lloyd Jenkins and Claire Regnault).
