Black & fawn satin evening gown
Peter Millar's grandmother, Mrs Jean Millar, wore this evening gown to dinner in 1954 when Queen Elizabeth II and her husband the Duke of Edinburgh visited Palmerston North. The dinner was held in the tea rooms at the department store, C M Ross. The Millar family owned the Millar & Georgie Menswear Department Store in Palmerston North. It is likely that this evening gown was made locally.
