Vinka Lucas/Glenda Thomas crepe and guipure lace wedding dress, 1966

Vinka Lucas drafted the pattern from Bride Magazine for Gina Wing's wedding dress, a service which she provided with the purchase of the necessary fabrics from her boutique. Gina's sister, Glenda Thomas, constructed the gown from this pattern and fabrics, as well as making the bridesmaid and flower girls' dresses for Gina's big day in 1966.

This gown features a modern, A - line sheath silhouette with innovative dart manipulation to create a pointed seam detail on the front, which skims the figure without affecting the drape of the lightweight crepe main fabric. This provides a clean and minimal base for the intricate guipure lace train and lines of trim around the hemline.

Gina recalls that her daughters had a lot of fun dressing up in her going away outfit and the veil that accompanied this dress, however these garments did not survive. This wedding dress has survived in fantastic condition, and has been restored.
