Ultrasuede skirt and matching jerkin

El Jay acquired the exclusive rights to manufacture garments in Ultra Suede in New Zealand in 1977. It was a fabric that was being used extensively in the American market, was a favourite of the Kennedy women and was also worn by Mrs Rockefeller, wife of the then Vice-President of America. Read more about Gus Fisher and the El Jay label in the New Zealand Fashion Museum publication Looking Terrific: The story of El Jay.
