Tukutuku pattern cushions, 2010s

The pattern book, ‘Maori Design Knitwear’ was found by a friend at an op shop and passed on to me. Maureen Waka on the cover was the first Māori Miss NZ. I adapted the patterns from the jerseys by plotting out the designs to create the cushions, and backed them with vintage NZ wool blankets.
