TEAL turquoise Dior uniform
The 1960s marked an exciting era for TEAL flight hostesses as they were the first in world to have a wardrobe designed by the House of Dior. The uniform comprised of a crisp white silk blouse and a turquoise pure worsted tricotine skirt. A cravat on top of the blouse was perfectly displayed over the rounded, collarless neckline of the jacket. The blouse and skirt were banded together with a wide belt giving the top a blouson effect that looked like a dress. The topcoat with was finished with a set-away collar to show the cravat and the look was completed with a pill box style hat that was of the moment. El Jay NZ Ltd, who were the licensed Christian Dior representatives in New Zealand, made the uniforms.
