Stencil printed dress & silk scarf

Susan Holmes joined the Brown's Mill craft co-operative in 1972. Along with many department stores and fashion designers of the time, Brown's Mill put on fashion parades – but with a difference. These inspired Susan's work further as she fed off her customers, her creative colleagues and the models in the shows. Susan used stencils to print this evening dress and silk scarf, pictured in a fashion parade at Brown's Mill. Listen to an interview with Susan Holmes talking about Brown's Mill and the process she developed for screenprinting silk with stencils.
