Purple bri-nylon swimsuit

The Canterbury label was manufactured by Lane Walker & Rudkin - a Christchurch-based business. It is made from Bri-Nylon - a nylon fabric trademarked in 1958 by the British Nylon Spinners. This became the default option for swimwear in New Zealand for the next two decades. With its quick-drying properties, its durability and colour fastness, and variety of textures, patterns and rich colours, Bri-Nylon surpassed anything that had come before.
