Picture knit sweater, 1980s

Like most of her generation my mother, Mary Parrish, learnt to knit as a child but taught herself to prepare fleece and spin in the 1970s after ending up with an Ashford spinning wheel. Mother crafted everything in her own very 'hand spun' style - it was just luck if the item she made you happened to fit. These are items made for our family, and Mother knitted many picture knitted jumpers - I discovered this one, unworn, after she died.
