Men’s swimsuit with horizontal stripes
Recognising the seasonal limitations of the demand for woollen jumpers, socks and underwear, manufacturers in the late 19th century sought to diversify and adopt new technologies and garments. This coincided with the advent of the modern Olympic Games in 1896, which included men's swimming. Women's swimming was introduced in 1912. Manufacturers around the world began manufacturing woollen bathing suits.
