Mandarin-style hat & fur stole
Photographer Herman John Schmidt was born in 1872 in Auckland. He trained as a photographer before buying a Queen Street photography studio in 1905. Herman won many international awards for his portraiture work. His portfolio also includes commercial work such as this photo advertising a hat and stole from Smith & Caughey's.
