Magic feather dress
This dress is reminiscent of Susan Holmes' voluminous empire line dresses from the 1970s that were embellished with her signature prints. The dress placed second in the Silk section at the World of Wearable Arts Awards in 1995. The yoke is cut from old woven bag, sponged with print paste and appliqued with silk. The silk skirt is cut roughly, dyed, then cut accurately, stencilled and sewn. "I remember at the time wanting to add more to make my entry more spectacular, but the dress seemed to refuse all my offers and stayed pure and simple!"
