Guipure lace & silk ensemble

This ensemble by Bruce Papas was made for Vi Yakich to wear to her daughter’s wedding. White guipure lace was dyed soft blue to tone with the dupion silk. The jacket has petal shaped seams and is weighted at the front to ensure it stays sitting correctly. Bruce had recently left Milne & Choyce to open Bruce Papas Salon in the Kerridge Odeon retail development, 246, on Queen Street. Many of his clients followed, keeping him and his staff of five extremely busy. Read more about Bruce Papas in the New Zealand Fashion Museum publication, A Certain Style.
