Ensemble with gold screenprint & foil embossing
This Yu Mei ensemble was part of Jessie Wong's Otago Polytechnic graduate collection, Well Behaved Women. The collection was inspired by the women in Jessie’s family. The story is told through natural, New Zealand wools, silks and leathers that act as a canvas for exaggerated gold foiled brushstrokes. The foil embossing on the bag was done with an old letterpress machine at Drakes Leather in Dunedin. Jessie hand painted the skirt with brushstrokes of the Chinese characters for "Yu Mei" – her middle name.
