Embroidered cardigan, 1970s

This cardigan was knitted in the 1970's by my Nanna Ethel Perry and my mum Elise Perry. Nanna knitted the cardigan, crocheted the edges and button holes, made the twisted cord for the belt, and my mum did the embroidery on the Yoke. It is 100% wool, with cotton in the crochet trim. It was based on a German Burda pattern, but knowing Nanna she would have taken creative license everywhere, and definitely chosen the colours herself, she always loved clashing colours. It wouldn't surprise me if this cardigan in it's finished form looks not much like that pattern.
