Colin Cole lemon yellow organza gown with contrast bodice, 1970s

This 1970s lemon yellow organza and black bodiced gown is one of the many Colin Cole garments owned by the Cole-McCondach family, and has been documented and editorially shot as part of a project undertaken by photographer Lily McCondach, Colin Cole's grand-niece. The family connection continues as it is modelled by Lily's cousin Jazz-Dannii.

This full length evening dress features an interesting tuck detail around the hem of the skirt and large puffy sleeves which create a voluminous and floaty babydoll silhouette. This shape references folk inspired styles popular in this era. The sheer organza is balanced by dramatic black empire line bodice embroidered with a gold thread floral motif. A large satin bow on the back is positioned below a low scoop cut on the back neckline which is also piping edged with gold lamé.
