Ches Pritchard 8 Piece Corporate Wardrobe, 1998
This collection of garments was designed by Ches Pritchard, for a Corporate Wardrobe Planning Workshop with Lyn Preston, a personal fashion consultant. The collection was designed to show how the corporate woman could stylishly co-ordinate garments in her wardrobe, achieve different looks, and know exactly what to wear and when.
Ches chose three beautiful French Dormeuil fabrics for this collection, - a plain black fabric, a grey jacquard fabric, and a paisley black and grey fabric. It was a mark of his design skills that Ches was able to co-ordinate all three fabrics to make a very distinctive, versatile and stylish capsule wardrobe.
The Collection included two calf length skirts in the two different grey fabrics, one slim line with a side split, and the other, fitted over the hips and with a full skirt. Chez included two fitted vests, also made in the two different fabrics, with one of the vests having a criss cross back detail, which was a fashion statement at the time. Also included in the collection was a pair of black wide legged pants, which also matched the two vests, and were perfect for corporate evening functions. To complete the Corporate look, Chez also designed two beautiful slim jackets, which went with either the two skirts or the wide legged pants, with one of the jackets cleverly using all the three different fabrics used in the skirts, pants and vests.
These garments were all beautifully tailored and fully lined, and were a joy to wear. Also pictured in combination is a Paula Ryan White collared shirt, which was also worn with this ensemble by original owner Marie Sanders, who worked as an illustrator and commercial artist.
The NZFM photographed this ensemble at our Popup photography session in October 2024 which was part of our Hui Auaha o Aotearoa Open Day.
