Baby's layette, 1991

Like most of her generation my mother, Mary Parrish, learnt to knit as a child but taught herself to prepare fleece and spin in the 1970s after ending up with an Ashford spinning wheel. Mother crafted everything in her own very 'hand spun' style- it was just luck if the item she made you happened to fit. These are items made for our family, including this baby layette including jumper, pants, beanie and baby blanket for her granddaughter made in 1991.
