Jacket with knit ribbed trim

Rose Jackson's first 'proper' job in fashion was with Tony Milich at Sonny Elegant Knitwear, who had a factory in Mt Roskill. "It was an amazing introduction to all aspects of the industry as they not only designed and wholesaled their collections from the building, they also knitted the fabric, produced stock, finished all the garments and dispatched from there as well. The only thing missing was the sheep! One of the best parts of the job was getting a sneak preview of new collections. There would be a good few months in between sampling and release to dream about what I needed to order from the latest range. One of the perks of working in fashion is getting a good staff discount, so it was alway easy to justify a few new pieces. This jacket was from Sonny Knitwear's 2003 collection when sports luxe was having a moment. I fell in love with the elevation of a practical design, a windbreaker essentially, into something special with the use of a fine gauge knit ribbed trim, soft merino sleeves and a silky bold pattern lined in shot satin for the body. Perfect for going midweek clubbing, back when that was a thing!"
