Drop-waist dress with contrasting panel

This woman's dress is a good example of the drop-waisted fashions of the 1920s, and is striking in its use of black withdashes of tan. The grape motifs have been appliquéd onto the black with the same fabric that is featured on the centre panel.

It was kept by its original owner, Elizabeth (Bessie) Scott (nee South), her whole life and worn occasionally for special events.
