Belted dress with striped collar & cuffs

Fred Allen started in the fashion industry as a 16-year-old errand boy at Ballantynes in Christchurch. When he returned from the Second World War, he applied for a licence to import materials, something he could obtain as a returned serviceman. Fred went on to juggle his business, the womenswear label Fred R Allen, and a successful career with the All Blacks - as a player, captain and coach.
