Belted dress with floral border print

The Sherri Lee label was made by Sew Hoy. The Sew Hoys were early Chinese settlers in Dunedin and they had a large and very successful clothing manufacturing business. This dress is a typical 1950s’ style – gathered skirt and a self-covered belt. Border prints of all kinds were fashionable but those with flowers kind of growing up from the hem were popular.
